Scottish Independence Podcast 146 – Murray, Orr & Harvie

First of all, a huge thank you to all of you who donated in our little fundraiser. You’ve secured the podcast for another year and we’re very grateful.thank-you-post-it_xoombi

Episode 146 of the Scottish Independence Podcast continues the series of talks given at the recent Scottish Independence Convention and has a couple of little bonuses thrown in too.

There are another two talks featured. The first was given by Lesley Orr of Women For Indy, and the second by Patrick Harvie, and this was his speech to round off the conference.

Before we get to those however, there is a little excerpt of a talk given by Craig Murray, in which he explains we he thinks for Indyref 2 we need to get international observers.

Hope you enjoy.

The Scottish Independence Podcast 123 – Craig Murray

screen-shot-2012-03-24-at-15-42-53For the 123rd episode of The Scottish Independence Podcast I spoke with Craig Murray.

Craig is a former UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan, a post which he resigned in protest over what he saw as the collusion of the UK government in torture.

In his career he has also held Foreign Office positions in the EU and Africa, and wrote Murder In Samarkand.

He is now a human rights campaigner and also campaigned very vocally for a Yes vote in the Scottish Independence Referendum. Now that the referendum has passed, Craig feels no one is making the case for independence forcefully enough, and that was the main focus of our discussion, but we also took in the wider scene around the world.

Hope you enjoy…

The Scottish Independence Podcast 71 – Craig Murray

Screen-Shot-2012-03-24-at-15.42.53For the 71st episode of The Scottish Independence Podcast I spoke with Craig Murray.

Craig is a former UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan, a post which he resigned in protest over what he saw as the collusion of the UK government in torture.

In his career he has also held Foreign Office positions in the EU and Africa, and wrote Murder In Samarkand.

He also supports Scottish Independence and apart from talking about why he supports it, we also talked about the Maritime boundary issue that could come up after independence. Blair and Dewar connived to move it hoping no one would notice., but will that realignment be allowed to stand? Craig has been involved in many maritime boundary negotiations, so he knows a thing or two on the subject.

bookWe also talked about the idea that Britain is a “force for good™” in the world. We weren’t convinced.

How will the negotiations go for Scotland entering the EU as an independent state?

There’s all this and much more.

Hope you enjoy…
