From The First To The Last

In the last couple of days the No people have been bringing up “shared history” and so on.

It’s a strange thing because if you’re talking just about states and governments then there is more UNshared history than shared, and “shared” is a strange word to use because I don’t think any sane person could call the Union, either in the past or now, a partnership of equals.

But in a historical AND present day context, when you get right down to it, one of the most important reasons for independence now in 2014, is exactly the same one that the leading opponent of the act of union gave in 1707…
