    Forty or fifty years ago, someone noted that on an island virtually made of coal and surrounded by fish, it took some talent for the government of the day to procure an energy crisis and a fish shortage at the same time. Nowadays, on a long, narrow north Atlantic island, surrounded by water, buffeted by wind and increasingly parboiled in the summer, the government has an energy policy based on uranium and foreign gas.

    I bet all those MPs who denounce wind turbines are stalwart opponents of the Heathrow metastasis and the Boris Island fantasy.
