Biggest problem in forging united Europe are still existing imperial ambitions of some individual EU members who still look back at their colonial past. Needless to say this goes very much for UK. Breaking it into individual nations could prove to be very good for balance of power whithin EU and would shift it more closer to Brussels. Thus I strongly support independence for Scotland since it will make one more step in ending London`s imperial ambition which is great obsticle for future Europe in which all nations, big or small, eastern or western, should be equal.

Hmm, secession really puts a dent in the movement to incorporate Celtic and Rangers into the English Premier League. Great billboard, by the way.

Why can't we all just get along?

Errummm... Nevermind. Forget I said that.

On a serious note, it really does seem like an issue for the Referendum. I mean it. If Scotland secedes and becomes, by default or through some process, an EU member, then the only reason to maintain it in the UK is for England's sake, not "the UK's".

Just as the United States is our oldest ally, so the United Kingdom of Albion and the Lesser Provinces can never be broken up. As Alasdair Gray points out in 1982, Janine, we need somewhere to put our nuclear missiles.
