WORD FAMILIES

27 08 2007

The thing about comedy is that it is much harder to do than music. If you are in a band and you are shit you can hide behind a lot of noise. For a comedian it is you and the microphone, if you are crap you are in trouble - nowhere to hide.

Ok, this might sound a bit sexist.

I haven’t ever found that many really funny female comedians. There are a few but a lot of them really don’t make me laugh.

And I have tried, I go to comedy shows when I get the chance.

Now, we can certainly make the sociological points about opportunity and also about the fact that men always just talk over women anyway. Bastards. I know. Put beer in me and I sometimes do it, certainly not always, and I am aware of the problem so try to catch myself but beer makes you lose the ability to do so.

Anyway, a lot of the female comedians tend to recite period jokes ad infinitum. It was funny when they first started to do it but we have moved on 20 years now and really it has  become a very tired cliche now, as has men making clitoris jokes. Stop it. Not funny anymore - It has been done to death.

But then, I am stereotyping.

I saw this when it was on TV and I was stunned. The person I am talking about starts to talk at 34 seconds of a 1.36 minute video.

I saw this and it is the only time I have ever checked the internet to see if someone was already married.  That is how much I liked it.
