So long as men worship the Caesars and Napoleons, Caesars and Napoleons will duly arise and make them miserable. – Aldous Huxley

I’VE USED THIS EXCUSE!

Many thanks to Mike over at Born at the crest of the empire for doing the work on this.

Now, I am not a man to hold having a beer against anyone (unless there is only one left and I think its mine) but I remember Bush being advertised as teetotal. Now lets take a look at these pictures from the G8 summit

Hmmmm. Now it may be that it is a non-alcoholic beer. Possibly.

However, the next day this story appears in the Associated Press…

A stomach ailment forced President Bush to miss some meetings at an international summit on Friday, but after resting in his room, he rejoined the gathering and prepared for talks in Poland on a missile defense system….

The president was already dressed when he began feeling ill in the morning, Bartlett said. The aide said Bush’s illness was “probably more viral in nature” and did not appear to be the result of anything he ate.

Bush stayed in bed for several hours to rest and recuperate.

Mystery stomach problem, EVERYONE has used that excuse at least one day in their lives. Now there is no proof of any of this, it is just well… I don’t know, you make your mind up.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

It is most likely non-alcohol beer as I said above but just for the hell of it, here is an old video of Bush drunk at a wedding (this is one of the few things I don’t hold against him. In scotland getting drunk at weddings is a civic duty).

D’you mean she doesn’t do booze? How very immature of her. Seriously.

I think folks who quit altogether are dangerous because they don’t have the ability to explore their more creative intuitions. More importantly even, they Quit altogether RATHER than deal with the particular personal failures which drove them to excess in the first place. They blame the wrong thing for their problems, which is the flip-side of crediting the wrong things for success.

Is a generalization, to be sure. One I’ve noticed in people more often than not, though.
